Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). When she was a kid she was enrolled in her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma was only six when she realized she wanted to become an actress. She trained for several years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a Part-time theatre school located in Oxford where she was taught acting and singing. By the time she turned 10, Emma had taken part in numerous Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel began casting in 1999. Emma was discovered by Emma's Oxford Theatre teacher. After eight consecutive auditions, director David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast to play the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's film debut was made with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The film set records for opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings and became the top-grossing movie of the year 2001.
